About the Progressive Voters Guide

The ACLU of Colorado is the state’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. We’re a private institution funded exclusively by the generous donations of our supporters. Our mission is to protect, defend and extend the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Colorado through litigation, education and advocacy.

The ACLU has not endorsed any candidates nor taken positions on any ballot initiatives, but we thank them for their support and recommend checking out their 2020 Voter Guide as well!

With members in hundreds of professions — from human service workers to librarians, nurses to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public service and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.

AFT Colorado is a union that represents thousands of members in K-12 Education, Higher Education, and Public Service. Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights Action Fund (COLOR AF) is a community-rooted non-profit organization that works to enable Latinx individuals and their families to lead safe, healthy and self-determined lives by holding elected officials accountable to our issues and electing people who support our mission.

The Colorado AFL-CIO represents approximately 185 affiliate unions, whose membership totals more than 130,000 working Coloradans. We are an expression of the hopes and aspirations of the working families of Colorado.

In 1977, Colorado Black Women for Political Action (CBWPA), the brain child of former State Senator Gloria Tanner, was founded by 13 women who wanted to encourage African-American participation in the political process and serve as a political advocate for the African-American community.

The Colorado Education Association (CEA) represents 39,000 Colorado educators. By working collectively with education stakeholders, we will provide the best public education for every student and assure Colorado’s standing as an excellent state in which to learn, live, work, and raise a family.

The Colorado Fiscal Institute provides credible, independent and accessible information and analysis of fiscal and economic issues facing Colorado. Our aim is to inform and influence policy debates and contribute to sound decisions that improve the well-being of individuals, communities and the state as a whole.

Our mission is to build a strong and thriving Colorado where all residents are treated with dignity and respect and have equal access to a fair and just quality of life and the opportunity to live united with family members. We achieve this mission through advocating for fair, humane and workable public policies and by increasing the civic participation of new Americans.

Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (WINS) is the union representing more than 28,000 classified state employees who work to ensure our quality of life in communities across the state and provide essential services to more than 5.7 million Coloradans.

The Working Families Party is a grassroots, multiracial party of working people coming together across our differences to make our nation work for the many, not the few. We’re electing the next generation of transformational leaders and building durable, independent progressive power in communities across the country.

We work to protect Colorado’s climate, air, land, water, and communities through organizing, advocacy, and elections. The Denver Area Labor Foundation (DALF) represents more than 90,000 union members and their families through its political and organizing programs. DALF works with local and national labor and community organizations around policies and initiatives in support of worker rights. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people.

Mi Familia Vota’s mission is to build Latino political power by expanding the electorate, strengthening local infrastructures, and through year-round voter engagement. We are also training the next generation of leaders by opening opportunities through our Youth Development Programs and through our Mi Familia Vota work.

New Era is a leading voice for young people in Colorado politics and one of the most effective youth civic engagement organizations in the country. We are working to reinvent politics for young people, mobilizing and empowering a new generation to participate in our democracy to advance progressive change.

The NRDC Action Fund is an affiliated but separate organization from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, the NRDC Action Fund engages in various advocacy and political activities for which the Natural Resources Defense Council, a 501(c)(3) organization, faces certain legal limitations or restrictions.

One Colorado is the state’s leading advocacy organization dedicated to advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans and their families. We effectively advocate for LGBTQ Coloradans and their families by lobbying the General Assembly, the executive branch, and local governments on issues like safe schools, transgender equality, relationship recognition, and LGBTQ health and human services.

Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado works to advance access to sexual health care and defend reproductive rights in the political, legislative, and regulatory space.
