  • Virginia’s new 31st State Senate district encompasses parts of Loudoun County and parts of Fauquier County. With over 164,000 registered voters, this is a competitive district that does not lean one way or another.

This election will be held on November 7, 2023. Democratic candidate Russett Perry and Republican candidate Juan Pablo Segura are facing each other in the general election for Virginia’s new 31st State Senate district.
Democratic candidate Russet Perry was raised by her mother and father, a public school teacher. Perry is a Georgetown University Law Center graduate. While there, she worked in the Georgetown Law Domestic Violence Clinic. She was a prosecutor in the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office and a CIA officer. During her time in the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, she served on the Mental Health and Drug Court Dockets. She lives in Round Hill with her husband and children.

Russet Perry is a strong advocate for women's rights and believes in equal treatment for women in all aspects of their lives. Perry believes in protecting a person’s right to make decisions about her own reproductive health care and will fight to ensure that Virginia does not ban abortion. She also believes in equal pay for equal work and closing the gender pay gap. Perry believes that no one should have trouble accessing contraception and that the government should provide viable alternatives and support for people facing unwanted pregnancies.

During her ten years as a prosecutor, Perry helped establish a mental health docket and revitalized the drug court docket in Loudoun County. She believes in a fair criminal justice system that treats everyone equally, regardless of their background. Perry supports evidence-based solutions to reduce recidivism and ensure that individuals who have paid their debt to society have the resources needed to become fully engaged members of society. She is committed to investments in the criminal justice system that produce the best and safest outcomes for all parties.

Russet Perry is the daughter of a career public school teacher and understands the importance of education firsthand. She believes that every child should have access to the same opportunities, regardless of background, race, gender, orientation, religion, income, or social status. She advocates for safer schools, fair wages for teachers, and incentives for college graduates to teach the youth. Perry supported Virginia Democratic legislators’ budget that included one billion dollars of funding for public schools.

Russet Perry recognizes climate change as a significant threat to us and our children and is committed to fighting against any efforts to diminish the progress Virginia has made in recent years. • Virginia’s new 29th House of Delegates district encompasses parts of Loudoun County. With over 63,000 registered voters, this district leans Democratic.
This election will be held on November 7, 2023. Democratic candidate Marty Martinez and Republican candidate Jonathan Rogers will face each other in the general election for Virginia’s new 29th House of Delegates district. Martinez previously ran in the 2007 House of Delegates race for District 33, prior to redistricting.
Marty Martinez, the former Vice Mayor of Leesburg, is a candidate vying to represent Virginia's newly created 29th House District. Utilizing the GI Bill, he pursued higher education, earning B.S. degrees in Economics and Computer Science from Portland State University. Settling in Leesburg in 1993, he actively engaged with the community as a coach, PTO president, Boy Scout leader, and advocate.
Since 2002, he has served multiple terms on Leesburg Town Council, advocating for growth while preserving its historical essence.

Martinez's dedication to crucial issues shines through as he joins gun safety leaders and advocates to combat gun violence. He actively supports gun safety measures, joining forces with Moms Demand Action and local advocates to combat gun violence. Martinez emphasizes the importance of closing loopholes, implementing universal background checks, and promoting responsible gun ownership through essential legislation. His dedication to fostering a safer environment and protecting communities makes him a valuable advocate for positive change.

Martinez is dedicated to improving healthcare in Virginia. With the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he emphasizes the need to invest in robust health infrastructure. Martinez's vision entails providing secure, affordable, and high-quality healthcare for all, along with universal coverage and reduced prescription costs. By addressing inequities and lowering overall healthcare expenses, he strives to build a healthcare system that meets the essential needs of the American people and fosters a healthier, more equitable society.

Martinez exemplifies a strong commitment to preserving Virginia's delicate ecosystems. With a focus on safeguarding clean air, water, and the environment, Martinez places a high priority on managing and preserving the state's natural surroundings amidst growth. Recognizing the urgency of climate change, he advocates for a robust response, including a resilient infrastructure to address severe weather impacts like flooding, while promoting a transition away from fossil fuels. Martinez's dedication to environmental sustainability makes him an exceptional leader for Virginia's future.

Martinez is a staunch advocate for reproductive rights, recognizing the crucial importance of abortion access as healthcare. In the face of recent challenges to these rights, Martinez remains resolute in protecting Virginians' ability to make their own reproductive health decisions and access safe and legal abortions. His commitment to standing against any attempts to restrict access to abortion or birth control showcases his unwavering dedication to ensuring everyone’s right to choose. Martinez's defense of reproductive freedom makes him a strong advocate for individual healthcare decisions and reproductive rights in Virginia.

Martinez is competing against Republican Jonathan Rogers. Rogers pursued degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, and George Washington University. Having been a resident of Leesburg since 2003, he has contributed to the educational sector as a teacher and administrator in both Fairfax and Loudoun County Public Schools. Rogers has no plan to protect reproductive freedom in the Commonwealth and advocates for the funding of the police department despite their continuous failure to de-escalate and minimize hostile situations.

Due to his advocacy to combat gun violence, stand up for reproductive rights, and preserve Virginia’s ecosystem, Martinez is the progressive choice for this race.

  • Virginia’s new 30th House of Delegates district encompasses parts of Loudoun County and Fauquier County. With over 63,000 registered voters, this district leans Republican.
This election will be held on November 7, 2023. Democratic candidate Rob Banse and Republican Geary Higgins will face each other in the general election for Virginia’s new 30th House of Delegates district.
Rob Banse has dedicated his life and career to working in the church, having served as a church leader for 17 years in Western Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties. With a background in ministry and education from Georgetown University and the Virginia Theological Seminary, Banse’s career as a pastor in the Episcopal Church has spanned 35 years, fostering a deep sense of service to others. His desire to promote unity and address community needs is evident in his work with the Windy Hill Foundation and his goal to serve his home district in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Banse aims to secure a sustainable and safe future for generations to come. He will advocate for preserving farmland and supporting local farmers through grant funding, while defending against overdevelopment that threatens open land and conservation efforts. Additionally, he prioritizes holding oil and gas companies accountable for environmental pollution and seeks to invest in clean, renewable energy initiatives to create jobs, reduce energy bills, and combat climate change in Northwest Virginia.

Banse prioritizes sustainable economic growth that balances development with preservation. He aims to boost economic opportunities and address affordability by supporting existing businesses and infrastructure. Banse will advocate for increased affordable housing options through rebates, tax breaks, and fair wages for working families. He plans to expand rural broadband to benefit small businesses and entrepreneurs, revitalizing small towns and investing in the tourism industry by preserving and protecting farmland, breweries, wineries, and wedding venues.

Banse prioritizes public safety and believes in making communities secure, from roads to schools. Banse wants to improve infrastructure to ensure traffic safety. Moreover, he aims to address mental health crises, drug overdoses, and family disputes by investing in trained mental health professionals to respond to people in crisis. Banse seeks to reduce gun violence while respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens through comprehensive gun safety measures, including mental health and background checks.

Rob Banse staunchly believes in protecting the fundamental freedoms of Americans. He will prioritize safeguarding access to abortion and opposing any attempts to restrict speech and expression. Banse advocates for ensuring a woman's autonomy over her body without state interference. He firmly believes in keeping the government from censoring literature and media consumption. Furthermore, Banse is dedicated to upholding voting rights, ensuring all eligible Virginians can exercise their democratic voice without hindrance.

Banse faces Republican Geary Higgins, retired Vice President of Labor Relations for National Electrical Contractors Association in Washington, DC who served on various boards in Loudoun County. Higgins opposes schools teaching accurate historical events, aiming instead to propose legislation that will prohibit what he believes are “political ideologies” in the classroom.

Banse is the progressive choice for this race due to his dedication to climate action, gun violence prevention, protection of reproductive rights, and prioritization of economic growth.
